Leaving Cincinnati

After a week and a half of conferencing and a GREAT show, I'm now
waiting for my cab to take me to the airport. Minus some socks
(holes), a pair of pants (fell down - holes), and some brain cells
(bourbon). Wish I could have gotten to Louisville. Oh well. Next time.

Cab is here!

Prius Prius Prius!

Great article in the LA Times today about how spending $400B in ten years can reduce our foreign oil consumption in half. HALF! The solution: spend $40B a year in Priuses for Americans, in exchange for their retiring their old cars permanently.

Here's the article.

between USITT and tech

Last week was USITT, the national conference for technical theatre and design. I had a great time, checking out different sessions on sound technology and design ideas. There were a few student portfolio presentations, and I was able to spend time with the students afterwards discussing their work. Nice.

Now, I'm sitting in my odd little apartment in Cincinnati, waiting for tech to start in the next day or so. Today was a pretty quiet day - I tried to go shopping, but there's nothing around here to buy. I built the sounds for the show yesterday, so I'm ready to rock and roll with tech. I watched Citizen Kane, caught up on some email, beat a friend in Scrabble, and met the other designers for lunch. I needed this day off, but now I'm bored. Bored Bored Bored Bored Bored.

If you got an AIG bonus, what would you do?

From The New York Times:

By DAVID STOUT and LOUISE STORY

Edward M. Liddy told a House committee that he had asked employees who
received bonuses of more than $100,000 to return half the money....

24 hours of Sarah!

After almost two weeks apart, I finally got to spend some time with Sarah. She came in on Saturday night, and we went to a party and caught up on Battlestar Gallactica (two more episodes!). On Sunday, I cooked up some breakfast and we chilled a bit. That afternoon, we went to the Yale Drama Alumni party, up in Beverly Hills. It was great to see some of our old classmates, though Sarah was disappointed that none of the actors from her year were there (plenty of non-actors, though). I got to see a bunch of old friends, including some that I hadn't seen since school.

After the party, Sarah played her game. And after the game, we got pizza and watched some more tv that we had taped. Also, I started a Twitter account, which you can follow on this blog (to the right).

This morning, I felt back (tummy ache), so I bailed on my run and am just staying home, trying to get work done. This is a brief break. Now, back to work!
